AI assembly assistant
The AI assembly assistant that builds it with your customer
UnboxStep’s AI assembly assistant helps customers while they assemble. It sits on every step of an interactive 3D guide made from your PDF manual, knows the parts and hardware of that step, answers questions in the customer’s language, checks a photo of their work, and hands real problems to your support team with full context.
What the assistant does on every step
The assistant sees the same step as your customer: the instructions, the parts, the hardware and the tools. That is what lets it answer “which screws here?” for this step instead of giving a general answer.
Answers on the step
Customers ask in their own words. The answer is about the step they are on, from your manual, in their language.
Shows the part in 3D
Part numbers in an answer are buttons: one tap shows the part, or how the screw goes in.
Checks a photo
“Does this look right?” The customer sends a photo and the assistant checks it against the step.
Checks a missing part
Before anyone calls support, it checks whether the part belongs to a later step or is already fitted.
Hands off with context
When it can’t help, your team gets the product, step, conversation and photo.

Asked on the live demo guide of the GB-1200 Garden Bench, step 7 (“Back apron”), on October 25, 2026. The answers are copied word for word.
Customer · step 7
Which screws do I use here?
Assistant
For this step, you need four of the HW4 Wood screw 4 x 50. Please make sure to have someone steady the side frames while you attach the apron D.

I only found three of the HW4 screws in the bag.
Assistant
It is important that you have all four screws to secure the apron D safely as the step requires. Please double-check all your hardware bags to make sure none were missed during unpacking. If you still cannot find the fourth screw, please reach out to Demo customer service with the part number HW4 so they can assist you further.

Why a 3D guide alone is not enough
A good 3D guide shows each step better than any drawing. But customers still get stuck on questions a picture cannot answer: which of two similar screws to use, which side faces out, whether a part is missing or just comes later, whether what they built looks right.
Without someone to ask, those questions become support calls, returns and one-star reviews. The assistant is that someone: it stays on the step with the customer and answers while the parts are still on the floor.
How it knows your product
The guide and the assistant are built from what you already have: the PDF manual, and a CAD or 3D file when you have one. The AI reads every page and drawing and writes the steps, the parts list and the hardware of each step. Your team reviews and approves every step before the guide goes live.
The assistant answers from your manual, your steps and what it learned about your kind of product. When a question is outside what it knows, it says so and offers to send the case to your team. Every conversation is in your logs.
When it hands off to your team
When the assistant cannot help, or the customer asks for a person, it opens a case for your support team with the product, the step, the conversation and the photo. Cases go to your support e-mail or to any helpdesk through a webhook. You can also answer from UnboxStep: you write in English and the reply is translated into the customer’s language. What you learn
Every question and every customer who stops is tied to a step. You see the steps customers struggle with, what they ask there, drop-off and ratings by step, language and country, so you fix the product and the manual, not just the ticket. See where customers get stuck
Your brand, your name
The assistant is called Noa by default. Give it your own name, choose its avatar, and put your logo and colours on the guide, so the first hour with your product is with your brand. Your assistant, your name

Frequently asked questions
What is an AI assembly assistant?
An assistant that helps a customer assemble a product while they build it. In UnboxStep it sits on every step of an interactive 3D guide made from your manual, knows that step’s parts and hardware, answers questions in the customer’s language, checks photos and hands real problems to your support team.
How is this different from a 3D assembly guide?
A 3D guide shows the steps. The assistant also talks with the customer about the step they are on: which screw, which side, is a part missing, does this look right. Most customers’ questions are answered on the spot.
How is it different from a support chatbot?
A support chatbot answers from FAQs. The assistant knows the exact step, part and screw on screen and points to them in 3D.
What happens when the assistant doesn’t know?
It says so and opens a case for your support team with the product, step, conversation and photo.
Does it work without CAD?
Yes. With only the PDF manual you get an interactive 2D guide with the assistant on every step. A CAD or 3D file adds animated 3D steps.
Can I read the conversations?
Yes. Every conversation is in your logs, tied to the product and the step, and the questions are counted by step in your analytics.
