Publishing
Guide versions and one-click rollback
Once a guide is printed on a box as a QR code, it has to stay right. UnboxStep freezes every published guide as a version: your edits, AI runs and new platform features stay in the draft until you choose to publish an update.

The problem
A guide that is already on thousands of boxes cannot change by accident. Editing a live page directly means a half-finished change can reach customers in the middle of an assembly, and there is no way back to the guide that worked yesterday.
How it works
- 1
Publishing freezes a version
The link and the QR code always open the published version, with the 3D features it was published with.
- 2
Work on the draft
Edit steps, move parts, run the AI. The product page shows “The draft has changes customers don’t see yet” and lets you preview the draft.
- 3
Publish an update
Add a note on what changed and publish. It becomes the next version, and the link stays the same.
- 4
Roll back in one click
Every version is kept with its date, author and note. Preview any of them, or make it live again. A rollback is published as a new version, so the history is never rewritten.
What you get
- Nothing reaches customers without your approval
- New 3D features reach a published guide only when you publish an update
- A full history with who published what, and when
- A bad change is undone in one click, at the same link
Questions
Do the link and the QR code change when I publish an update?
No. The link and the QR code stay the same. They always open the version that is live.
What happens to guides that were published before versions existed?
They were frozen as version 1 exactly as they were, so customers see no change until the company publishes an update.
Can I keep editing from an older version?
Yes. “Make live” can also replace the draft with that version, so you continue from it.
